On September 26, 2009 the Quinimay Trail was officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony that 17 people attended. We gave out free water, whistles, plastic ponchos and a few safety orange vests to Rob Butterworth's crew, some hikers and our members. We handed out food to anyone that was hungry. We all shared a few words of thanks for all the hard work and efforts, cut the ribbon, and started our hikes and rides. The weather was perfect we had a great day!!

Games Day 8-09
|
Despite hot and humid weather, fourteen members of the LCRVHC took part in the annual Games Day at Richard Martin's Hawkshead Farm. Several horses and riders participated in the Telephone Book Race, Barrel Race, and Soccer on Horseback. A good time was had by all during the fun competitions, which emphasized getting your horse used to new situations and working with other riders and horses. The day was kept short, due to the heat and humidity. After the events, while the horse munched grass or hay, their riders had the opportunity to refresh themselves with snacks, particularly Bev Torell's delicious corn chowder.

Progressive Ride 2006
|
The annual progressive ride enjoyed spectacular weather for a change. It was warm and sunny and the footing was fantastic. In December, would you believe it?! It all started at Brad's 7/8ths Farm with a big breakfast spread that would put a Hunt Breakfast to shame. Next Pati Martin, Siobahn (sp), and Barb White led the group through the new Missing Link trail to the Epic trail to the Turley trail, you get the picture to Grandma Peg Lupone's house for appetizers. Gloria Elliott was the next stop for lunch and carols. The final leg was at Jodie Gebhard's for dessert. She had to kick them out so they wouldn't be riding back to their trailers in the dark. Everyone had a great time. We need to do something like this in the Spring, don't you think? |
